Mrs. Marissa and the Colour Monster

Today we had Mrs. Marissa come into our class and help us with our pencil grip!  

We practiced the 3 finger pencil grip as we coloured our Monsters and we 

said "Chomp Chomp Chomp" to remember how to hold the pencil crayon correctly!

Terry Fox, No School and Orange Shirt Day September 30th

WOW!  We rocked the Terry Fox Run today!  It was cool, windy and rainy but we persevered and NEVER gave up!  Just like Terry Fox!  

Mrs. Sloane and Mrs. Brady were VERY impressed!

On Monday, September 30th our school will recognize Orange Shirt Day!

Orange Shirt Day, is a day on which we commemorate the thousands of First Nations, Métis and Inuit children who were removed from their homes at this time of the year and forced to attend residential schools.  Students are welcome to wear Orange to show acknowledgement of this important day!

Autumn Painting, Terry Fox and Library Day

Tomorrow is Library Day.  Please return the BLUE book bag and BOOK!  

Tomorrow is the Terry Fox Run.  WOW!  We have raised $27 from our class donations!

Today we painted our Autumn backgrounds.  We used warm colours; red, yellow, and orange!  

Tomorrow we will add our self portraits...it looks like we are playing in the leaves!

We can't wait to show you our art!

Mat Man Drawing and Mrs. Kelsey

Ms. Kelsey came to our class today!  She came to talk to us about our voice levels.  We learned that we have FIVE voice levels.  Ask me about the voice levels!

Life Touch Picture Day is on October 3rd

We are learning how to draw ourselves.  We watched Mat Man and then practiced on the whiteboards.  We sang the song as we drew each body part.

Tomorrow we are painting an Autumn background for our pictures!

Terry Fox and Fall

Today we WELCOMED Fall

Our Kindergarten class will be participating in our school Terry Fox Run on Thursday!  

We will be running in the School Field, unless it is raining, and then we will run in the school!

Thursday is Library Day and THANK YOU

Yesterday, we went to the Learning  Commons.  Students took out ONE book!

Please keep this book in a SAFE place and bring it back BEFORE next Thursday!

Meet the Teacher...BINGO and Dice

Don't forget we have our Meet the Teacher and our Welcome Back BBQ tomorrow night!

The BBQ will be from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.  We will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and juice, which can be paid for upon arrival.  

The cost per person is $4.00. 

Please join me in the classroom (Room 13) at ONE of the sessions;

4:15 – 4:45

4:45 – 5:15

5:15 – 5:45

During the sessions, you will learn about the programming in our classroom and you will have an opportunity to ask questions.

If you are unable to make it on tomorrow evening, we will also be running one session on Friday, September 20 from 9:00 – 9:30 am.

Today we played Colour and Shape BINGO and explored with Dice!

In Kindergarten we learn how to subitize.  To be able to Subitize is the ability to tell the number of objects in a set, quickly, without counting.  

As we learn Dice games...I will share them, so you can play as a family!  

Patterns

Today we learned what a PATTERN is!  We learned it is a repeated set of objects.  A pattern can be an numbers, shapes, letters, people or insects.

Ask your child if they can a build a pattern for you!

Meet the Teacher and BBQ

Meet the Teacher

We would like to invite you to join us on Thursday, September 19th for our annual back to school BBQ and our Meet the Teacher evening. 

The BBQ will be from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.  We will be serving hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and juice, which can be paid for upon arrival.  

The cost per person is $4.00. 

During this time, we will also be running a series of Meet the Teacher sessions in the school for students in K-3.  

Sessions will run at the following times:

4:15 – 4:45

4:45 – 5:15

5:15 – 5:45

During these sessions, you will learn about the programming in your child’s classroom and you will have an opportunity to meet their teacher and ask questions.  These are group sessions, with many families attending together.  There is no sign up for Meet the Teacher; you simply choose the one that works best for you.  Please plan to arrive at the session at the start time, as the presentations will begin promptly.  You are welcome to attend the BBQ either before or after your desired Meet the Teacher session.

If you are unable to make it on Thursday evening, we will also be running one session on Friday, September 20 from 9:00 – 9:30 am.  No sign up is required for this session either.

We had a BIG day!

WOW!!  We had a BIG day!  We had many firsts today.  We went to Music with Mrs. Bessemer
and Gym with Mrs. Brady.  We had our first Fire Drill too!

The Big Umbrella and PM Kinder Friday!

Today we read the story The Big Umbrella!  

We talked about how we ALL belong and we include our friends when we play!

 We learned how to draw our own umbrellas and we will learn who fits under OUR umbrella tomorrow!

Please remember tomorrow is a PM Kindergarten Day!!  We start at 9:10 and we end at 1:00!

Remember...

A few reminders;

- have your child go to the bathroom BEFORE school 

-remember to send the BLUE folder to school every day

-send a spill proof water bottle every day...we get very thirsty after snack
