Keeping your Home Language Alive

Hello Families,

Here is another fantastic resource.  These two documents are intended for families whose first language is not English.  Additionally, resources like this often have great ideas to develop strong a language for all language learners, so all families are welcome to the resources:)

COVID-19 Resources

Here are some family resources that might support you as you explain COVID-19 to your family.

Learning at Home

Please see the Message From CBE Leadership

Class cancellations are unusual and challenging events.  During this short period before spring break, we encourage families to maintain a balanced and consistent routine for children; including regular sleeping and eating times, breaks for activity and outdoor time, and healthy boundaries on screen time.

After spring break, additional learning resources and activities will be shared to support students in learning.

Children are naturally curious learners and there are opportunities at home to engage their learning. We have created a webpage (see below) that offers a variety of educational ideas to support literacy, numeracy and wellness at home for this week. The resources are meant as suggestions only. You may choose to use the links and activities as needed over the next few days as more long-term educational programming is considered.

Hello

Hi Kinder Families,

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time!

I wanted to touch base and let you know that I MISS you so much!  It is so weird being in the classroom without YOU!  It is so quiet!  Who would have ever thought I would be the noise...lol

At this point, we are still waiting on how to move forward with Learning at Home from CBE Leadership and Alberta Learning.  Please take this time to go for a walk, bake, play a game, color and just be together as a family!

All the best,

Mrs. Sloane

Fire Drill

Today we welcomed the Harvest Hills Fire Department as we practiced our Fire Drill protocol.  Mrs. Sloane was so proud of how the students quietly left the classroom, walked to our meeting space and waited for Mrs. Sloane!

Does your family have a fire escape plan?  Firefighter Cam told us that we need to have a plan and practice it twice a year...just like how we practice at school!

Lock Down and PM Kinder Tomorrow

Today we had our FIRST Lock Down.  The Kinders were incredible!  They sat near the GREEN dot waiting to meet the CPS officer.  When the CPS officer came into our class, he thought nobody was in our class because we were soooo quiet!

Ask your child how they felt about the Lock Down!

We have Kindergarten tomorrow!
We get Music with Mrs. Cook, Gym with Mrs. Brady and Buddies with our Grade 3 friends!

Don't forget to send an extra BIG snack...our day is long and we get hungry working so HARD!

OWLS

After meeting Ophelia we learned how to draw an owl.

We followed a guided drawing and as we drew we noticed all the features of the owl.  Today we colored our owls...some kids decided to use their imagination when coloring and colored their owl with BRIGHT colors!
