Monday is MARCH & Owl Visit

No School tomorrow for PM Kinders!  See you Monday!

I can't believe that Monday is March!  Please note the important dates for March on the side panel!  

On Monday, we have our visit from Ophelia.  We have talked about being a quiet audience, so we don't frighten Ophelia.  

Please reinforce this at home by having a talk about manners and using a quiet voice during this unique presentation.

We had a great day celebrating 

Pink Shirt Day.  

We read a story about being a good friend called Peanut Butter and Jellyfish.  Ask me who Crabby was?  And why his friends helped him, even though he wasn't a nice friend.

We went to the Grade 2 assembly.  They sang two songs that we liked...one was from the movie Trolls.

Pink Shirt Day

Tomorrow is PINK Shirt Day.  Don't forget to wear your PINK to show you understand it is important to be a Buddy, Not a Bully!

Pink Shirt Day and Owl

We will be learning about Pink Shirt Day!  Pink Shirt Day is on Wednesday.  We encourage ALL students to wear a Pink Shirt to show you know what it means to Be a Buddy...Not a Bully!

Meet OPHELIA!  She is a Great Horned Owl.  We will be meeting Ophelia next Monday when Calgary Wildlife Rehab Society comes to CHS!  We will be learning about Owls as we prepare for her visit!

Here is some info on her...
She came to CWRS in 2007 with a broken wing. The fracture healed but complications with scar tissue in the tendon prevents her from raptor style flight which is needed for proper hunting, but she is able to fly.  As she was not able to be released back into the wild but had a very quiet disposition, she was considered for an education ambassador.

Children's Place Field Trip

WOW!  What an incredible day at the Children's Reading Place!  Your child brought home their NEW book to keep!

Children's Reading Place

Oh my...we are so excited for tomorrow!  

Tomorrow is our FIRST field trip to the Children's Reading Place.  

Once students arrive at school tomorrow, students will go to Music and then they will have a bathroom and snack break before we load the bus at 10:15.  

We will not be bringing a snack on the field trip...so if possible...please have a BIG breakfast

When we return to school, students will be welcome to have another snack!

What if...

In the story The Mitten, Nicki looses ONE of his mittens and the 8 animals climb inside.

What if Nicki lost TWO mittens?  How many animals could be in each mitten?

Tomorrow is Library Day!

It is already TUESDAY!

WOW!  It was great to hear all about your adventures during the Family Day long weekend!  I can't believe February is almost over!  Don't forget...we have our Field Trip on FRIDAY!



We had a fantastic day learning about gathering information and creating a graph to show what we learned! 

We wondered...if we could be any animal from The Mitten...who would we be?

Do you want to be a badger?  How about the owl?  

Can you tell from the graph which animal is the most popular?

Ask your child which animal they chose and WHY?

I wonder why nobody wanted to be the BEAR?

Sick AGAIN :(

I heard from Mrs. Brinson that she had a wonderful day with the class!  Unfortunately, I will be away again tomorrow, but Mrs. Brinson will be back in teaching for me. 

I will be back on Wednesday!  

On Wednesday, we will decorate our Valentine Bags and we will hand out our Valentine Cards!

Please remember...we have NO SCHOOL Thursday, Friday and Monday!

The Mitten

We have continued our work with The Mitten.  

Yesterday, students created their own mitten so it wouldn't be lost in the snow like Nicki's did.  

Today we sang a song about The Mitten characters...

Valentine's Day and The Mitten

There is NO SCHOOL February 13th, 14th and 17th for Teacher's Convention and Family Day!

We will exchange Valentine Cards on Wednesday, February 12th.  

Students do not have to make cards for their classmates, but if they do, they MUST make one for everybody in the class!  If a student chooses not to make cards...they still will receive some from their classmates:)   Please remember, there can be no candy attached to the Valentine Card.

Valentine Cards are a great opportunity for students to practice writing their name.  Students do not need to write WHO the card is for...leaving it blank is okay and easier for them to put in their friends Valentine Bags, but if they wish, here is a list of our classmates;
