Children's Reading Place

Oh my...we are so excited for tomorrow!  

Tomorrow is our FIRST field trip to the Children's Reading Place.  

Once students arrive at school tomorrow, students will go to Music and then they will have a bathroom and snack break before we load the bus at 10:15.  

We will not be bringing a snack on the field trip...so if possible...please have a BIG breakfast

When we return to school, students will be welcome to have another snack!

What if...

In the story The Mitten, Nicki looses ONE of his mittens and the 8 animals climb inside.

What if Nicki lost TWO mittens?  How many animals could be in each mitten?

Tomorrow is Library Day!

It is already TUESDAY!

WOW!  It was great to hear all about your adventures during the Family Day long weekend!  I can't believe February is almost over!  Don't forget...we have our Field Trip on FRIDAY!



We had a fantastic day learning about gathering information and creating a graph to show what we learned! 

We wondered...if we could be any animal from The Mitten...who would we be?

Do you want to be a badger?  How about the owl?  

Can you tell from the graph which animal is the most popular?

Ask your child which animal they chose and WHY?

I wonder why nobody wanted to be the BEAR?

Sick AGAIN :(

I heard from Mrs. Brinson that she had a wonderful day with the class!  Unfortunately, I will be away again tomorrow, but Mrs. Brinson will be back in teaching for me. 

I will be back on Wednesday!  

On Wednesday, we will decorate our Valentine Bags and we will hand out our Valentine Cards!

Please remember...we have NO SCHOOL Thursday, Friday and Monday!

The Mitten

We have continued our work with The Mitten.  

Yesterday, students created their own mitten so it wouldn't be lost in the snow like Nicki's did.  

Today we sang a song about The Mitten characters...

Valentine's Day and The Mitten

There is NO SCHOOL February 13th, 14th and 17th for Teacher's Convention and Family Day!

We will exchange Valentine Cards on Wednesday, February 12th.  

Students do not have to make cards for their classmates, but if they do, they MUST make one for everybody in the class!  If a student chooses not to make cards...they still will receive some from their classmates:)   Please remember, there can be no candy attached to the Valentine Card.

Valentine Cards are a great opportunity for students to practice writing their name.  Students do not need to write WHO the card is for...leaving it blank is okay and easier for them to put in their friends Valentine Bags, but if they wish, here is a list of our classmates;

Today, we learned more about the animals in The Mitten.  

We learned that non-fiction books have text features.  We learned about labels today!

February 21 Field Trip and The Mitten

Today in your child's BLUE folder, you will find the field trip forms for our FIRST off site activity.

We will visit The Children’s Reading Place on Friday, February 21, 2020.

The Children’s Reading Place allows students to interact with a variety of 

books in a comfortable and interactive space.

  Please READ and SIGN all of the forms and return the “Consent of Parent or Guardian” form 

by Monday, February 10^th.
